Our Garden
"We tend to your earth"
The Afrikan Village Community Garden was born in the spring of 2009 with just one plot of land and has now grown as three plots of land. The Afrikan Village Garden is tended to with love & light by Bro Rakera and Baba Ra, with the assistance of Bro Jafar, members of the Afrikan Village and the community.
As a people, the ability to feed ourselves is very important. Equally important, is knowing that what you eat is pesticide free. At the Afrikan Village Community Garden, we do just that by using a combination of ancient & modern techniques, thereby causing our crops to produce abundantly.
The Afrikan Village Community Garden not only feeds the Afrikan Village family, but six households in the community, with plans on expanding, as well as maximizing crop space for higher yielding crops. We grow crops with medicinal and cosmetic properties, as well as nutritional food and sources. The Afrikan Village Community Garden, being a teaching and learning center, next season will have youth in the garden to learn growing techniques, with plans to create jobs through gardening and products created in the garden.
